IELTS

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an English test for study, work, and migration. A good IELTS score allows you to study at top universities in countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA.

IELTS Exam Format

The IELTS test evaluates your Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking skills. Scores range from 1 to 9:

• 1-3: Very limited English skills.
• 4-5: Basic understanding but struggles with fluency.
• 6-7: Good command with some mistakes.
• 8-9: Very strong to fluent English speakers.

Who Can Take IELTS?

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Must have a valid passport.
• Two types of IELTS:
  • Academic – for students applying to universities.
  • General Training – for work and migration.

How to Register & Fees

1. Check available test dates.
2. Create an account with the British Council.
3. Select a date and pay the fee.

IELTS Fees in Nepal:

• Paper-based IELTS: NPR 25,300
• Computer-based IELTS: NPR 23,650
• UK Visa & Immigration IELTS: NPR 28,000
• Life Skills A1 & B1: NPR 19,600

Test Centers in Nepal

• British Council: Kathmandu, Chitwan, Biratnagar, Butwal, Pokhara.
• IDP Nepal: Kathmandu, Pokhara, Birtamod, Biratnagar, Butwal, Chitwan.
• Computer-based tests are available only in Kathmandu.

Test Schedule

Morning: 9 AM - 12 PM

Afternoon: 1 PM - 4 PM

How to Prepare for IELTS

Before the Test:

• Read English books and articles.
• Learn new words and their meanings.
• Practice regularly.
• Understand IELTS test formats.

During the Test:

• Read instructions carefully.
• Manage your time wisely.
• Take notes and underline important details.
• Stay within the word limit in writing.
• Speak clearly and confidently.

Checking IELTS Results

Paper-based test results: Available 13 days after the test.

Computer-based test results: Available in 3-5 days online.
